Raising a Girl
J and I were wandering through LifeWay Christian bookstore this evening (went to buy the Stepping Up Beth Moore book, guess that means I AM doing the bible study...) and we saw this book Technical Virgin: How Far is too Far? on an end cap display. Fascinated and a little appalled I picked up the book and flipped through it. One section was on "Female Porn" and it was an admonisment against "chick flicks" because after watching one, young girls could begin to think that "the 16 year old boy without a job, who lives at home with his parents, and plays XBox all day, really could be just like Matthew Maconahay", which is a hysterical quote but a bit sobering too. I am so glad A is just 7 months old, but as I look into the future, at what age do I have to teach her and prepare her for these things? J's idea, as a 5th grade teacher, was before middle school...

I don't even want to think about it yet, but I was reading some other blog about very similar topics today...
